Trump has signed an executive order banning citizens of 12 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Somalia and Sudan.
CBS News correspondent Jennifer Jacobs reported, citing sources, that Trump has signed an executive order banning citizens of certain countries from entering the United States due to national security risks.
According to a document released by the White House on Wednesday, June 4, Donald Trump banned citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States in order to “protect” the country from “foreign terrorists.”
The ban, which went into effect on June 9, applies to Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Seven other countries are being targeted by the restrictions. Donald Trump said the measures stem from the Colorado attack. On Sunday, June 1, a man threw incendiary devices at participants in Colorado who were attending a weekly march in support of Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip.
According to the White House, the suspected perpetrator of the attack was “illegally” on U.S. soil.
The Trump administration has imposed a complete entry ban on citizens of the following countries:
🇦🇫 Afghanistan
🇲🇲 Burma
🇹🇩 Chad
🇨🇬 Republic of the Congo
🇬🇶 Equatorial Guinea
🇪🇷 Eritrea
🇭🇹 Haiti
🇮🇷 Iran
🇱🇾 Libya
🇸🇴 Somalia
🇸🇩 Sudan
🇾🇪 Yemen

It is known that Trump has taken various steps regarding immigration policies and travel bans during his second term as president, which begins in 2025.
In particular, there have been reports that a draft travel ban covering 43 countries is being worked on.
According to a report by The New York Times dated March 15, 2025, this draft completely bans citizens of 11 countries (Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen) from entering the US, while visas for countries on the “orange” list (Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Turkmenistan) are severely restricted. Turkey does not appear to be on these lists.
Trump’s previous executive orders in 2017, which imposed a travel ban on 7 predominantly Muslim countries (Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen), have been controversial.
These bans have faced legal objections and have been implemented with some changes. His policies in 2025 are similarly focused on tough immigration measures and deportation plans,
