Putin, as usual, accused the West of creating an anti-Russian stronghold in Ukraine. He stressed that Western countries were now prolonging the conflict and making it worse.
The Kremlin also noted that during the call, Putin emphasized that in order to reach a long-term solution, the root causes of the conflict must be addressed.
During his meeting with Macron, Putin discussed the situation surrounding Ukraine and reminded that the conflict is a direct result of Western policies.
Speaking about the possibilities for a peaceful solution, Putin confirmed the basic approaches to potential agreements, which should be comprehensive and long-term, addressing the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and based on new regional realities.
Putin noted that Western countries are pursuing a strategy of prolonging hostilities by supplying weapons to the Kiev regime.
The two presidents also discussed the Iran-Israel conflict and the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
According to the Kremlin, Putin and Macron noted the responsibility of Russia and France to promote peace in the Middle East and maintain the nuclear disarmament regime.
The presidents expressed support for a political and diplomatic resolution of the crisis surrounding the Iranian program.
Putin and Macron emphasized the importance of respecting Tehran’s legitimate right to peaceful nuclear energy, fulfilling its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and cooperating with the IAEA.
