14 members of the Security Council voted in favor of the draft resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and Washington objected.

On June 4, 2025, at the United Nations (UN) Security Council meeting, the United States of America (USA) vetoed a series of proposed sanctions on the Gaza Strip. This situation sparked reactions from the international community and led to the deepening of conflicts in the Middle East.

The US vetoed a draft resolution in the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire and full aid access to the Gaza Strip


14 members of the Security Council voted in favor of the draft resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and Washington objected.

In the Security Council’s vote on the proposed ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, 14 people voted in favor, 1 voted against, and no one abstained. The proposal was dropped after the US vetoed it.

On June 4, 2025, a draft resolution was voted in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) calling for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of all hostages. In this vote, the US vetoed the draft resolution. The voting results were as follows:

Countries voting in favor: 14 member states (all of the 15 members of the UNSC except the United States)

Permanent members: China, France, Russia, United Kingdom

Temporary members (2025-2026): Somalia, Pakistan, Panama, Greece, Denmark

Other temporary members (2023-2024, continuing in 2025): Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Switzerland

Country voting against: United States (veto)

Abstentions: None
