Israel says it has launched strikes on Houthi targets in three Yemeni ports, including the ports of Hodeidah, Ras Isa and Saif.
The strikes came just after the Israeli military ordered evacuations for civilians in the area and warned of imminent airstrikes.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed on social media the strikes on Houthi-held locations, including a power plant and a ship hijacked by the group two years ago.
Houthi media in Yemen said the strikes hit the port of Hodeidah, but gave no further details about damage or casualties.
Katz said the strikes were part of “Operation Black Flag” and warned that the Houthis “will continue to pay a heavy price for their actions.”
In a post on X. “The fate of Yemen is the same as the fate of Tehran. Anyone who tries to harm Israel will be harmed and anyone who raises a hand against Israel will have their hand cut off,” he said.
STATEMENT FROM THE HOUTHIS
The Houthis: We have resisted the aggression of the Israeli occupation and our defense has ensured the withdrawal of the invading aircraft.
Yahya_Saree’e Our air defense is ready and vigilant to confront the Israeli attacks on our country with full force and power, God willing.
Houthi spokesman: Yahya Saree: Yemeni air defenses effectively countered the Israeli aggression and forced the withdrawal of the majority of its troops using a large barrage of locally produced surface-to-air missiles, which caused great confusion among enemy pilots and operations rooms.
