“We’ll no longer give Grossi permission to be present at nuclear sites, or install cameras, because we saw information about our sites in documents obtained from the Israeli regime,” -Iran parliament vice speaker Hamid Babaei
The Iranian government has banned the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi from accessing its nuclear facilities. This development is considered a critical turning point in terms of the course of nuclear negotiations and international security concerns.
Iran announced that it has banned the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi from entering the country.
This decision was announced by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Erakçi, and the IAEA’s request to install cameras at Iran’s nuclear facilities was also rejected.
Iran accused Grossi of legitimizing Israeli and US attacks on its nuclear facilities and of spying for Israel. In addition, the Iranian parliament overwhelmingly approved a law on June 25, 2025 suspending cooperation with the IAEA.
This decision was made after Israel’s attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordo and Isfahan on June 13 and the US’s attacks on June 22, 2025.
Iran called Grossi’s failure to condemn the attacks a “betrayal of duty” and demanded respect for the security of nuclear facilities and the right to enrich uranium
These developments signal a serious strain in relations between Iran and the IAEA and could further complicate international monitoring processes for Tehran’s nuclear program.
