In the deadly Air India crash in Ahmedabad last month, which killed 260 people, the plane’s engine fuel cut-off switches appeared to switch from on to off within seconds, according to a preliminary report by Indian aviation accident investigators.
The fuel switches on the Air India Boeing engines, which crashed shortly after takeoff on June 12, killing 260 people, were in the “off” position just before the crash, according to a preliminary investigation report released early Saturday, July 12.
The report, published by the Air Accidents Investigation Bureau of India (AAIB), does not draw any conclusions or assign responsibility, but notes that one pilot asked the other why he cut fuel, and the other pilot replied, “He didn’t.”
