A magnitude 6.5 earthquake occurred on June 6, 2025, approximately 112 km northwest of Copiapo, in the Atacama region of Chile.

Date and Time: June 6, 2025, 13:15 local time (20:15 Turkish time)

Magnitude: 6.5

Depth: Approximately 96.4 km

Location: South Pacific Ocean, 112-139 km northwest of Copiapo

Sources: U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Chilean National Seismological Center (CSN)

No tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake and according to initial reports, no loss of life or property was reported. Chile is frequently subject to seismic activity as it is located in the Pacific Earthquake Belt. This earthquake does not appear to have caused significant damage, thanks to the country’s effective earthquake preparedness measures.
