Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated hosts Morocco 3-2 in the second half of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to win their 10th African title.
In the final, played at a packed Olympic Stadium in Rabat, the Moroccan Lionesses surprisingly took a two-goal lead in the first half.
However, the Super Falcons, with their experience and brilliant attacking performance, overturned the deficit and won the match. Esther Okoronkwo calmly converted a penalty in the 64th minute, giving the Nigerians hope. Just seven minutes later, Folashade F. Ijamilusi equalized in the 71st minute.
