US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, responding to the proposal proposed by the Russian Federation at the Alaska summit, said that a meeting at the White House on Monday would see whether Volodymyr Zelenskyy would offer a counter-proposal for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump will receive Zelenskyy at the White House for the first time since their February row.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also announced their attendance.
Bild newspaper, citing sources, reported that Trump will first meet with Zelenskyy and then meet privately with European leaders.
