The attacks on eastern Lebanon followed the government’s approval of a US-backed proposal to disarm Hezbollah.
According to media and government reports, Israel has killed 10 people and injured 10 others in two separate attacks in eastern Lebanon. These attacks constitute a near-daily violation of the US-brokered ceasefire signed in November in the war with the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
Lebanon’s official news agency, the National News Agency (NNA), citing a statement from the Ministry of Health, reported that a vehicle was hit on the al-Masnaa international road in the Bekaa Valley on Thursday, killing five people and injuring 10 others.
Another drone strike killed a Lebanese civilian in the town of Kfar Dan, west of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon.
According to the agency, the individual was standing outside his home when the drone struck him. No further details have yet been released.
The Israeli army has not commented on the attacks.
The reported attacks came after the Lebanese government approved a US-backed proposal to disarm Hezbollah by the end of the year.
The Ministry of Public Health reported that one Syrian citizen was killed and two others were injured in an Israeli overnight attack on the town of Deir Siryan in the Marjayoun district of southern Lebanon.
According to the NNA, the Israeli army also targeted the northern outskirts of Deir Siryan near the Litani River, a garage near residential areas, and bulldozers.
In a military statement, the Israeli army claimed that the attacks hit Hezbollah infrastructure facilities.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah began on October 8, 2023, when the Lebanese group launched attacks in solidarity with the Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza, which is under Israeli attack. This escalated into a full-scale war by September 2024, with more than 4,000 people killed and approximately 17,000 injured.
